Welcome to T Bar J Ranch

Our Story

Our ranch was homesteaded by Al's Grandfather in 1909. He recorded our brand in 1911, using the initials of Al's Grandmother, Theoline Johanna. Thus the T Bar J brand has been a part of this land every since. Never belonged to anyone else.

We live on the short grass prairies of Montana where the deer and the antelope play, an occasional elk, moose or bear wander by and the coyotes howl at night.

Take Back Dinner, Time, and Control — Without Living at the Grocery Store

We put together a simple guide that shows how families make dinner easier — starting with what’s already in the freezer.

This isn’t a meal plan or a diet.

It’s how real families reduce grocery trips, decision fatigue, and weeknight stress — without needing a freezer or a big commitment.

Start here. Read it once. Let dinner feel lighter.

  • When you reserve a bulk beef share from our ranch, 5 lbs of ground beef is donated in your name to the Montana Veterans Meat Locker.

This is our Montana 5 for Those Who Served commitment.

    • ✔️ No red tape.
    • ✔️ No middlemen.
    • ✔️ Just Montana beef going straight into the freezers of veterans and active-duty service members who have certainly earned a heartfelt thank you.

    We deliver twice a year:

    1. Veterans Day – November 11
    2. Memorial Day – Last Monday in May

Your family gets clean, all-natural beef from our ranch, and a Montana veteran gets the same, because of you.

  • The T Bar J 5K Had Quite A Finish

Tuesday was the Annual T Bar J 5K. Not for Al and me. For the cows. It was windier than all get out. I had to cinch my hat up another notch to keep it on.

  • You Forgot To Thaw The Beef. Now What?

In the morning, I decide what we're having for supper, take the beef out of the freezer, and put it in the refrigerator to thaw during the day. By supper time, it may still be a little frozen in the middle.
