Like Mother, Like Daughter… and Some Big News!
Glad you made it to the Ranch Roundup this week.
Hope you can spend a few minutes on a mini-vacation to the ranch and see what all is happening. Better get a cup of coffee while you're at it and sit down.
Have you ever noticed how children sometimes inherit the funniest things from their parents?
Well, apparently that happens with cattle, too.
Take Margaret, for instance.
She's always had this little tuft of hair that sticks straight up on top of her head. Nothing fancy, just a cowlick that refuses to lie down.
And this year she had a heifer calf.
Wouldn't you know it, that little gal has a whole set of bangs sticking straight up, just like her mother!

I guess good hair runs in the family.
And neither one seems the least bit interested in doing anything about it!
A Week of Catching Up
It's been one of those weeks when Al and I have been trying to get caught up on all the things that seem to pile up around a ranch.
We hauled some open heifers to town, ran errands, and worked our way through a few things that needed tending to.
Today, we're headed to Cody, Wyoming, to deliver our last quarter beef of the fall.
There's something satisfying about knowing another family's freezer will be stocked with good Montana beef for the months ahead.
And speaking of things to be thankful for…
One Step Closer to Home
We have some wonderful news about our granddaughter Ayla.
Thursday, she went in to have the central lines removed that the doctors have been using for her treatments and transfusions.
She was a little scared about another surgery, but she still managed to give us this smile.

And the good news is, those lines are out!
She's not home yet, but she's getting closer.
After everything this little girl and her family have been through, Al and I are mighty thankful for every step forward.
And to all of you who have kept Ayla in your thoughts and prayers, thank you. We appreciate it more than words can say.
Sometimes the biggest blessings come one little step at a time.
Fall Back an Hour. Look Ahead to Next Summer!
Now, here's something to remember this weekend.
Sunday, November 1, we turn our clocks back an hour. That makes for one of my favorite mornings of the year with that extra hour of sleeping in.
And while we're turning the clocks back, we're looking ahead to next summer here at T Bar J Ranch!
Summer 2027 Beef Reservations Open Sunday, November 1, at 8:00 AM Mountain Time!
Turn your clocks back Saturday night, enjoy that extra hour of sleep, and join us Sunday morning!
Here at T Bar J Ranch, we have two beef harvests each year, one in the summer and another in the fall.
We're opening reservations Sunday at 8:00 AM Mountain Time for the 19 steers we're planning to finish for our summer 2027 harvest, with deliveries beginning in June.
By reserving ahead, you know your family's beef is spoken for long before it's time to fill your freezer.
If you've been thinking about filling your freezer with premium Montana beef, this is your chance to plan ahead.
Whether you're feeding two people or a houseful, there's a share to fit your family:
- • 1/8 Beef — approximately 45 pounds: A good place to start.
- • 1/4 Beef — approximately 90 pounds: A dependable supply for family suppers.
- • 1/2 Beef — approximately 180 pounds: Plenty of variety for a well-stocked freezer.
- • Whole Beef — approximately 360 pounds: One reservation to take care of your family's beef supply for months to come.
Every share comes from our Montana all-natural ranch-raised and finished steers, with the same care we put into the beef on our own table.
Beginning Sunday, you can reserve with a deposit and pay the remaining balance before delivery next summer.
We'll keep you updated as your beef gets closer to harvest and contact you when it's time to arrange delivery.
No subscription. No grocery-store guessing.
Just good Montana beef, raised by a ranching family you know.
Explore Summer 2027 Beef Shares
Reservations open Sunday, November 1. You can look over the shares now and choose what's right for your family.
What About Supper Between Now and June?
I know what you might be thinking.
“Amber, next summer sounds wonderful, but I've still got a whole winter of suppers to make!”
And you're right!
That's why, if you're planning to reserve your summer beef, you can also order one of our ground beef bundles for your freezer now.
Think homemade hamburgers, chili simmering on the stove, spaghetti, tacos, and meatloaf on a cold Montana evening.
You can have your summer beef planned ahead and good ground beef ready for the meals you're cooking this winter.
Two needs taken care of, without waiting until June.
Good Beef. A Good Cause. All Year Long
There's something else, Al and I want you to know about every beef share you reserve.
Through our Montana 5 for Those Who Served commitment, we personally donate 5 pounds of our ground beef in your name to the Montana Veterans Meat Locker for every beef share purchased.
And this isn't something we do just around Veterans Day or Memorial Day.
We do it all year long.
And last year, with your help, we donated 340 pounds of ground beef to the Montana Veterans Meat Locker.
That's almost a whole beef! Every beef share you reserve helps us continue that commitment.
It's our way of honoring the men and women who have served our country and helping put good Montana beef on the tables of veterans and their families.
When you reserve your family's beef, you're also helping us feed someone who has served.
And that's something Al and I are mighty proud to do.
Two Prime Rib Roasts. Two Lucky Winners!
And we've got one more reason to look forward to Sunday.
Our 3rd Annual Prime Rib Roast Giveaway begins November 1!
Al and I have set aside two beautiful T Bar J Ranch prime rib roasts.
One weighs 3.92 pounds and the other 3.79 pounds.
We're going to draw one winner each week for two weeks, and each winner will receive one of these prime rib roasts.

These are the actual roasts we're giving away!
Just imagine a beautiful prime rib coming out of the oven, the family gathered around the table, and everyone asking when supper will be ready.
Watch your inbox Sunday morning at 6:12 AM Mountain Time!
We'll have the details on our 3rd Annual Prime Rib Roast Giveaway, and you'll have time to look over the beef shares before reservations open at 8:00 AM.
You won't want to miss it!
Well, that's about all from our little corner of Montana this week.
The cows are settling into fall, the last beef deliveries are heading out, and we're getting ready for another season of raising good Montana beef for families like yours.
We've got a lot to be thankful for.
A little girl getting closer to home.
Good neighbors and customers who trust us to raise their beef.
And even a mother cow and her daughter who can make us smile with their matching hairdos.
I hope your weekend brings a few smiles, a good meal around the table, and something to look forward to.
Don't forget to turn those clocks back Saturday night!
