A Cool Drink on a Hot Day

After a stretch of dry, sweltering days, seeing the water tank filled to the brim, with calves crowded in to take a long drink, feels like a reason to pause and be thankful.

 

Water is life out here. And when it’s hot and dusty, we celebrate the simple things, like a full tank and content calves.

 

Our T Bar J Giveaway Found Its Home!

After a couple of weeks of emails and nearly giving up, Bob finally got his Giveaway box!

 

He and Delora were thrilled with the beef, honey, a T Bar J hat, and even some of our new Trail Sticks. Since they live just 30 miles away, I invited them,  and their 5-year-old grandson,  to come out to the ranch and bottle-feed Black Jack.

 


He told me he hadn’t checked his email over the 4th of July holiday… so here’s your reminder: check your inbox the first week of the month. You just might be our next winner.

 

Babies on the Move

The deer and antelope fawns are finally surfacing. We’ve been catching glimpses of their cotton-ball hind ends bouncing through the tall grass.

 

They had to do a little growing first, but now they’re up and running, and it’s a sweet sight every time.

 

A Foggy Reminder

Today brought rain and fog across the ranch, and I marked it on the calendar.

 

According to the 90-day fog rule, that puts us on alert for a storm around mid-October, just in time for preg-checking the cows.

 

Let’s hope Mother Nature gives us a break.

A Double Birthday Weekend

We’ve got a big celebration planned:  my dad turns 90 on Sunday, and one of his great-granddaughters shares the same birthday.

 

That means: two cakes, one before dinner, one after. Because if you’ve made it 90 years, you can do that sort of thing.

 

We’re so grateful to raise beef (and pork... and now trail sticks!) for families like yours.

 

Whether you’ve been with us since the start or just joined the herd,  thank you. It means the world to us that you choose to fill your freezer with food you can trust.
