You Don't Need A Big Freezer

You Don't Need A Big Freezer

There is something awfully nice about opening the freezer at 5:30 and already knowing the hardest part of supper is taken care of.

Burgers tonight.

Tacos tomorrow.

Maybe spaghetti, meatloaf, or chili later in the week.

And when Saturday rolls around, steaks are waiting for the grill.

That's one of the things we enjoy most about having T Bar J beef in the freezer.

It's not just the special-occasion steaks.

It's having good beef right there when you need to get supper on the table.

But sometimes we hear:

"I'd like to buy beef from a rancher, but there are only two of us."

Or...

"I don't have room for a big freezer."

You don't need one.

That's exactly why we offer a 1/8 beef.

At approximately 45 pounds, our 1/8 is a nice fit for couples, smaller families, first-time beef-share buyers, or anyone who simply doesn't want to store a year's worth of beef at once.

For a couple serving beef about twice a week, that's roughly six months of beef.

And those aren't 45 pounds of something you have to figure out how to use.

It's the kind of beef your family already eats — useful ground beef for everyday meals, slow-cook cuts and those premium steaks everybody looks forward to.

And just as important as what's in your freezer is knowing where it came from.

Our cattle are raised here on our Montana ranch.

We know how they've been cared for because we're the ones doing the caring.

We don't use growth hormone implants or antibiotics. Our beef is dry-aged, vacuum sealed, and processed at our USDA-inspected butcher. Each animal is ground separately, and our ground beef is approximately 85/15.

It's the beef we raise for our own family, too.

When you pull a package out of your freezer, you don't have to wonder who raised it or where it came from.

You know your ranchers.

And buying directly from a rancher doesn't have to mean buying a half or whole beef.

Here's what a 1/8 looks like in real life:

Kieran, our T Bar J hammer thrower, and his wife Hailey with their 1/8 T Bar J beef share.

That's about 45 pounds of beef.

No enormous freezer.

No year's worth of beef to find room for.

Just a manageable supply of good beef waiting when it's time to make supper.

With our early-summer and fall harvests, an 1/8 can also become a simple rhythm for a smaller household.

Stock up. Enjoy your beef. Restock about six months later.

And there's something else we especially like about that.

Every time you reserve a beef share, we'll donate 5 pounds of T Bar J ground beef to the Montana Veterans Meat Locker in your name through our Montana 5 for Those Who Served.

Choose a 1/8 twice a year, and while you're keeping your own freezer stocked, you've also helped put 10 pounds of good Montana beef into the Veterans Meat Locker.

A smaller freezer can still make a pretty big difference.

Our 1/8 beef share is approximately 45 pounds and $949 total.

You can reserve your fall share today with a $350 deposit, with the remaining $599 due later when your beef is ready.

If you'd like good beef waiting in your freezer, want to know exactly where it came from, and don't need a quarter or half beef, this might be just the right place to start

P.S. You don't need to buy a year's worth of beef to start buying directly from a rancher. About 45 pounds can give many households roughly six months of beef at two beef meals a week — and when you're ready, we'll be here to help you fill your freezer again.
