They Both Ordered The Same Amount

They Both Ordered The Same Amount

It is Tuesday again and I wanted to say thanks for all the comments on last week's recipe.

More than a handful of families had hamburger steak and onion gravy last week. Some of that ground beef even turned into meatballs and went along on a hunting trip!

You never know where ground beef is going to turn up.

Today I have a questions for you.

What would 45 pounds of beef look like in your freezer?

That's been on my mind this week because two boxes of about the same size headed to two very different households last week.

Last Monday, we sent 45 pounds of T Bar J ground beef to the Wayne family.

A few days later, Melissa sent us these pictures.

That's her 11-year-old daughter, Athena.

She wanted in on cooking supper. And as you can see, the dogs figured their chances of getting a dropped hamburger were pretty good if they stayed close.

Melissa told us: “Our freezer is at max capacity, and we're grateful for you all and your quality products!”

Forty-five pounds made sense for their family because they know they'll use it.

But your freezer might look completely different.

About the same time, Ann and Scott in Minnesota were unpacking about 45 pounds of beef, too.

They chose a 1/8 T Bar J beef share.

Instead of filling their freezer with one thing, they wanted a little of everything — steaks, roast, a brisket, and ground beef.

And guess what Ann pulled out first? The ground beef.

After supper, she told us, “So flavorful, perfect degree of leanness!”

What would you put in your freezer?

Maybe you're feeding a family and ground beef disappears almost as fast as you can put it in there.

Maybe there are only one or two of you now, and you'd rather have a smaller amount with plenty of variety.

Maybe 45 pounds wouldn't get you very far at all.

There really isn't one right way to buy beef.

There's just the way that works for your household, your freezer, and the meals you like to put on your table.

That's why you have choices when you buy from our ranch.

You can start small. You can choose a 1/8 share as Ann did. Or, if your family eats more beef and you want to stock up farther ahead, you can choose a 1/4 or 1/2.

You don't have to figure it all out by yourself, either.

If you're wondering how much freezer space you'll need, which size makes sense, or what you'll actually receive, that's what Al and I are here for.

After all, we're not the ones eating supper at your house. You are.

Have a good week, and hope you can keep all your hamburgers on the grill!

P.S. One more note that meant a lot to us this week came from Sandy. She's a veteran who first tried our Trail Sticks and has now reserved a 1/8 beef share. When she learned about our Montana Veterans Meat Locker donation, she told us: “I'm a veteran and so appreciate when fellow vets are cared for.”

With every beef share, we donate 5 pounds of T Bar J ground beef in your name to the Montana Veterans Meat Locker — helping take care of those who have taken care of us.
