Ours was full of cows, coyotes, and customers. All a part of our life here on the ranch. Get an iced tea, sit for a minute, and see how we spend our time.
Cows on Fresh Grass
We moved the herd into new grass, always their favorite time. You can almost feel their happiness, especially when the tall grass in the pasture “waves” in the wind.
Our monthly Body Score pictures show they’re all doing great: good fat coverage, wrinkly necks, and plenty of energy even with the heat.
We are so grateful for all the grass this year; we got more than our share. We will use it wisely
Coyotes & Deer Twins
We’ve got a mother coyote nearby teaching her pups to hunt gophers (and to howl, though right now they sound more like 7th-grade boys, voices cracking than true howling!).
And the new pasture came with neighbors, two does, each with twin fawns.
Warm winters seem to bring more twins, and we’ve certainly seen it this year.
A Hawk Rescue
On Wednesday, we came across a Swainson’s Hawk sitting roadside in the heat. It couldn’t fly, so we bundled it up and brought it to the vet. The Montana Raptor Center from Bozeman came to pick it up and will nurse it back to health before releasing it again.
These hawks spend the summers here eating insects, mostly grasshoppers, and fly south in the winter.

The last batch of steers we took in all graded choice.
