Only 5 Steers left — and a Bottle Calf named Black Jack
Life on the Ranch
It was another full week here on the ranch. New calves on the ground, fog in the air, steers on the trailer — and a few of those “you can’t make this up” moments that come with ranch life. Let’s start with the big one…
Only 5 Steers Left
We’ve taken in our first load of steers for July delivery, and they looked great — chubby, shiny, and calm.
We’ve got just 5 steers left to reserve — available in 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, or whole beef shares, and every one comes with:
1. A free chest freezer shipped to your door, except the 1/8
2. A jar of our ranch honey from bees that summer on our alfalfa fields
3. A T Bar J Ranch hat
4. New bonus cuts: Del Monico steaks, Bavette steaks, and a whole Coulette, plus some stew meat
5. Beef patties ready for the grill
6. Marrow bones for broth
7. Oxtail, beef shanks, and your choice of organs and beef fat for tallow
8. And for our Father’s Day special — a 3–4 lb Brisket added to the first 3 orders
This beef arrives in July, but the freezer and extras go out early so Dad has something to see (and get excited about) on Father’s Day.

This is about more than food. It’s about peace of mind, food security, and putting nutrient-rich beef on your table — raised with care for our family and yours.
Calving, Twins, and Black Jack the Bottle Calf
We had another set of twins this week — that makes four so far.
Unfortunately, the second calf didn’t make it. His leg was back, and calves are born like they’re diving — two front feet and a nose. If that doesn’t line up just right, it can take too long.
But the first twin is doing fine with his mother. One of the twins from last week is home and has officially assumed a Bottle Calf Position. If you’re local and want to come visit or give a bottle to Black Jack, let me know!
Meet Black Jack — our third set of twins this season left us with one little bottle calf. He’s settling in and always up for a visit.
Moving Day — Two-Day Plan
We’ve been trying out a new system for moving cows and calves. Instead of chasing everyone as a group, we simply open the gate and call them.
Most of the moms rush ahead to the new grass, leaving their calves behind. But by the next morning, they’ve circled back, gathered their babies, and everyone’s in the right place — no pushing, no herding, just nature working with us.
It’s working like a charm.
This is what success looks like. Everyone rested, full, and together — no chasing needed.
Farmer Weather: The 90-Day Fog Rule
We had fog three mornings this week. Thick as can be.
If you’ve been around farmers long enough, you know the saying: “If you get a fog, you get a fog storm 90 days later.”
So mark your calendars: August 25, 26, and 29 might not be picnic weather.
We keep reminding our sons — one in the Air Force, the other in the Black Hills Energy business -- to pass the info along, but they don’t think “Farmer Weather Forecasting” is quite scientific enough for the folks they work with. Doesn’t stop us writing every fog down on the calendar though, and planning accordingly.

What Our Customers Are Saying
We got this comment on one of our Facebook ads this week — and it made our day:
“My family has been purchasing beef from Amber and Al for years. One of the reasons is because of the natural way they raise their beef. Last year we also purchased a pig and will do the same this year. If you order, I promise you will not be disappointed in the taste or quality."— Kim, Montana
It’s support like this that keeps us doing what we love. And we’re always thankful to hear how our beef makes a difference in your home.
From Our Ranch to Your Family
We’ve raised these steers with the same care we raise all our animals — and it shows. We raise them for our family and to share with yours. That’s why so many of our customers return year after year.
If you're thinking about grabbing a share, don’t wait too long — when they’re gone, they’re gone.
