Proud and Loud Heading into Prime Rib Friday
What’s Happening at the Ranch
November is off to a full gallop here at the T Bar J.
This week, we delivered 180 lbs of ground beef to the Montana Veterans Meat Locker in Billings.
Thank you to the 36 families who helped make that happen. We’re not at our goal yet, so we’re going to keep the momentum going. And here’s the big news:

We are now official partners with the Montana Veterans Meat Locker.
From here on out, every beef share we sell sends 5 lbs of ground beef to Montana veterans, delivered twice a year, in November and June. It feels good to help take care of the people who took care of all of us. And yes, the flyover video of Zach in his F-16 last Veterans Day is still making the rounds… over 2,700 views on Instagram. Turns out people love loud jets almost as much as they love loud cows.
Weaning Week: The Loudest Week of the Year
We brought the whole herd home last week to sort calves and start weaning. They walked down the ditch along the road and right into the corrals. I wish everything on the ranch went that smoothly.
You’ll see them in the photo below, just one sign that fall work is in full swing.

If you drove by the ranch the past couple of nights, you probably wondered if we were holding a concert…
Because the steers and their mamas are across the fence from each other, and let’s just say:
They have Opinions. Loud ones.
Everyone from the bulls to the barn cats is red-eyed and sleep-deprived.
This “fenceline weaning” is supposed to be the least stressful method, the calves can still touch noses and mom can lick them — but nobody has told the steers that yet.
The heifers get to stay with their moms a bit longer; the steer calves we’re not keeping shipped to the sale yesterday. We each took a trailer load to town.
It’s never easy watching them go, especially after getting them off to such a good, healthy start, but we aren’t quite big enough yet to keep them all.
What’s Next
Once the bawling quiets down in a couple of days, the cows will head south to fresh grass for the rest of the fall.
We’ve had beautiful weather, a little wind (okay, a lot of wind), but dry, sunny, and perfect for fencing and finishing our fall work before winter sets in.
And as always:
We are grateful.
We are thankful.
And we’re honored to raise beef for families who care how their food is raised.

Prime Rib Giveaway
Last Friday, we gave away our first Prime Rib, and the second drawing happens today.
If you want to be in the running, you’ll need to:

Once you’re in, you’re in. Two Prime Ribs down… and someone’s taking home the next one tonight.
If You Still Need a Beef Share
Summer 2026 Beef Shares Are Now Half Reserved
Between longtime customers and new families joining us, half of our Summer 2026 beef shares are already spoken for.
If you want a share next summer, now’s the time to reserve it, especially with the next Prime Rib Giveaway drawing happening tonight.
👉 Reserve Your Beef Share Here
Because once the steers are spoken for… they’re spoken for.
Why It Matters
Because most families today are eating beef from places they don’t even recognize.
Because grocery-store meat gets mixed, blended, imported, relabeled… and you never really know what you’re getting.
Because fast-food burgers can contain beef from multiple countries in the same patty, and nobody has to tell you.
When you reserve a beef share with us:
- ✔️ You know exactly where your beef came from
- ✔️ You know it was raised slowly and naturally
- ✔️ You always have real food in your freezer
- ✔️ You save time, money, and stress because dinner is already at home
A beef share solves problems you don’t want to be dealing with, now or later.
P.S. Steers will be spoken for soon. If you want beef for next summer, please get your deposit in so you’re entered in the Prime Rib drawing.

In honor of those who served —
Feeding Montana veterans with every beef share.
