The Bulls got Rowdy, Mowana had a Calf, and Amy made Balm
Know what happened this week?
The bulls moved pastures (and had to settle that discussion), 23 new calves arrived — including a set of twins, and we got our first 10-year customer dinner bell to ring in another great beef meal. So grab a drink, get comfortable, and come check out life on the ranch this week.
Life on the Ranch
The Bulls’ “Bachelor Pad” Move. There must be a bull rule that says: every new pasture requires a new pecking order.
They were all in the corner where we needed them, so I rolled up the electric fence while Al got them moving.
Everything was going smoothly… until I thought, “Hey, I should take a picture.”
Right as the first four crossed the fence line, bull #2 spun around and started butting the guy behind him. (He's the one in the picture going the wrong way — tail straight out!)
From there? Mayhem.
They flung dirt, bellered, blew snot, butted heads, and tore around like it was the PBR finals.
“All hands on deck” meant just Al and me, trying to keep them grouped up and moving in the right direction — preferably toward the new pasture. At 2,000 lbs each, you give them space when they get rowdy.
We got them simmered down and headed the right way… but family picture time was over. No video.
Mowana, Her Calf, and 23 New Moms
This is Mowana, one of our first-calf heifers — and she had a beautiful heifer calf of her own.
She’s a sweetheart, always up for a back scratch. We had her great-grandmother in our herd — so we know this family line is full of good mama cows.
She’s just one of 23 new moms this week — 13 heifer calves 10 bull calves, and even one set of twins.
As we head into Mother’s Day weekend, we’re surrounded by examples of motherhood: the quiet kind, the strong kind, and the kind that keeps showing up — no matter the weather.
To every mother, grandmother, stepmom, and those who mother in quiet, unseen ways — we honor you. We hope your day brings you joy, rest, and hopefully a great meal. (We’re biased, but we hope it’s beef.)
Tallow Bonus: What to Do With Beef Fat
With every beef share, we now include beef fat for customers who want it. Tallow is great for cooking, but it also makes an amazing natural skin balm. Our new friend Amy made her own balm and shared a jar — and the recipe — with me. It’s simple, clean, and surprisingly soft.
If you’ve ever been curious what to do with beef fat beyond frying potatoes — give this a look!

Dinner Bells for 10-Year Customers
Some of our customers have been with us for over a decade, and we wanted to honor that milestone.
So our blacksmith friend Danny (who also makes our 5-year steak turners) forged these custom dinner bells.
They ring loud and clear — just like the people we'll give them to. Built to last. Hardworking. Reliable. Just like the friendships we’ve made along the way.
Quick Beef Update
We’ve got beef shares available for July delivery — and they’re the best way to fill your freezer with clean, nutrient-dense, Montana-raised beef. We sold out last November on our fall shares, so folks have been waiting a while for these. The June shares are gone, better speak up if you want one in July.
Our ground beef bundles are sold out until July, so now’s the time to secure your bundle.
We believe the way your food is raised affects the way it nourishes your family. Our cattle graze on native grasses. They’re handled with care. And it shows in the flavor and quality.
✅ We’ll help you choose the right share
✅ We’ll send the beef to your door
✅ We’ll even get you a freezer if you need one
✅ And we stand by it — or your money back.
Just call if you’d like to talk through getting a beef share at your house.
