The Freezer Trick Ranch Women Know
Of all the things, it rained here this week. And boy, were we grateful.
We’d sure like to plan on more of that, but Mother Nature usually reminds us she keeps her own schedule.
In the meantime, the cows have a plan.
I have a plan.
And after this week, I was reminded how nice it is when supper has a plan too.
Especially on a rainy day.
Because around here, rainy days just seem like meatloaf weather.
One of our customers sent me this picture of her husband, Dick, enjoying T Bar J meatloaf.
Louise told me she had to hide the leftovers so they would have enough for another meal.
I'd say that's a pretty good review.
And I laughed because I had just made meatloaf here at the ranch, too.
But when I make meatloaf...
I don't make one.
I make three.
One for supper.
One for sandwiches.
And one goes in the freezer for a day when chores run late, and I'm thankful I planned.
That's something a lot of ranch women figured out a long time ago.
A freezer isn't just a place to store food.
It's a place to store time.
