The Weather Rule About Easter

Easter week always brings a little bit of everything out here.

 

This year is no different.

 

So get your hat and gloves and come along.

 

Kieran, our T Bar J Hammer Thrower, was down at Nationals last weekend — every athlete there had to hit a qualifying mark just to compete. 

 

Even the American record holder was there.

 

Kieran held his own and finished in the top 5.

 

We told him the beef sticks probably helped.

Back home, we’ve been right in the middle of spring.

1. • Fencing.
2. • Shipping beef.
3. • Moving the heifers.
4. • Sending out beef sticks.
5. • Lining up deliveries.
6. • Shoveling snow.

 

And right on schedule — an Easter storm rolled through Tuesday, with another one behind it today.

 

Easter storms are like 90-day fog storms...you just count on them.

 

The cows weren’t too impressed with the weather. But they were pretty happy when we rolled out a bale of alfalfa.

 

 

The heifers, on the other hand, got moved onto a fresh piece of grass between storms.

 

They’ve been digging through the snow to get to it — and loving every bite.

  

It’s a good reminder this time of year how much goes into raising cattle the right way.

 

Weather, timing, and taking care of them through all of it.

 

The Pig Parade deposits opened this week, and we’ve already had a strong start.

 

We only have access to a limited number of pigs through the fair each year — once they’re spoken for, that’s it.

I know every family celebrates Easter a little differently, but I hope it’s a day of being together for yours.

 

A full house.
Good food.
Kids keeping a close eye on those Easter baskets.

 

I’ll tell you — my goal for next year is to have T Bar J Ranch beef sticks sticking out of those baskets right alongside the chocolate bunnies and jelly beans.

 

I have a feeling they’d be the first thing gone.
