Two Generations Later, They're Still Filling the Freezer

Two Generations Later, They're Still Filling the Freezer

This time of year always gets me thinking about freezers.

Probably because the first summer beef shares will be ready soon.

The steers have already gone to the butcher.

Families are checking freezer space.

And before long, boxes of beef will be headed to homes.

Some for the very first time.

Some for families who have been filling their freezer with T Bar J beef for years.

And that got me thinking.

Why do families keep coming back?

I don't think it's just because of one steak.

Although a good steak off the grill sure doesn't hurt.

I think it's because of all the regular meals in between.

It's opening the freezer after a long day and finding ground beef for tacos.

It's pulling out a roast because everyone will be home Sunday.

It's spaghetti before the big game.

It's burgers on the grill and having the neighbors over.

It's your family's world famous chili

It's knowing what you're feeding your family.

A beef share isn't one meal.

It's months of meals.

And over those months, something happens.

You learn what your family reaches for first.

You figure out your favorite cuts.

You know what you want more of next time.

That's why some of our families who have been with us for years now enjoy choosing their own cut sheet.

They know their freezer.

They know their family.

And we have some families who have trusted us to raise their beef for 18 years.

In fact, some of those kids who grew up eating T Bar J beef are now filling their own freezers.

That's pretty special to us.

Because those meals around the table have a way of turning into memories.

And getting to be a small part of those family meals, year after year, is something we don't take lightly.

Because long before that beef gets to their table, there was grass to care for.

Water tanks to check.

Fences to fix.

Cattle to move.

And a whole lot of days on the ranch that went into raising it.

That's what a freezer full of beef represents.

Not just packages.

Meals.

Time.

And a connection back to where it came from.

Every package has a story before it reaches your freezer.

This is the road back to the ranch.

If you're thinking about filling your freezer this fall, now is a good time to start planning.

And if you're not quite ready for a beef share, that's okay, too.

A lot of families start smaller.

A bundle.

A box of beef sticks for summer.

A first taste.

Then they decide what fits their family best.

And if you're not sure where to start, we'll help you choose what suits your family.

Because it can be confusing!

You have a connection to a ranch now.

You're not riding alone.

You're riding along with us, and we're glad.

If you are new here, welcome to the T Bar J.

P.S. Beef sticks are shipping all summer while we wait for the beef shares to be ready. They're the same idea in a smaller package — good beef ready when you need it.
