October is in full swing; you can feel it in the air.

 

The mornings are a little nippy. The evenings come quicker. The kids are picking out Halloween costumes... and the grandpa at our house?

 

He’s picking out Halloween candy.

 

At this rate, we’ll be buying candy three more times before the big day.

And the kicker? We don’t even have trick-or-treaters at the ranch.

 

But hey, we’re prepared.

 

So grab something warm to drink, settle in, and see what’s happening this month at the ranch. Because it’s going to be a big one.

 

T Bar J 5K: Complete

The cows finished their 5K walk last week and are now doing what every athlete dreams of after a big race:

 

Eat. Drink. Sleep. Repeat.

 

They earned it.

 

But the heifers… well, one or two of them seem a little too active, if you know what I mean. We’ll find out at preg-checking if they’re bred or just partying.

 

We’ll preg-check in late October. Most everyone will be bred, we hope.

But on a working ranch, you’ve gotta pull your weight. If not, well, we make tough calls to keep our herd strong and sustainable.
