31 Freezers, 5 Steers, and One Bottle-Fed Calf

31 Freezers, 5 Steers, and One Bottle-Fed Calf

Where is your T Bar J Today?

There’s been a lot going on this week at the T Bar J, and lucky for us, we have three granddaughters here to help. When they come stay at the ranch, everything’s more fun (and a little louder).

It cooled off, got hot, rained, and the days are clearly shorter.  Sit a minute and share with us what happened this week.

This Week at the Ranch

Cows changed pastures and we’ve been getting the new pasture ready. That means:

✔️ Cleaning and filling water trough

✔️ Checking and mending fences

✔️ Moving all the cow's "stuff" , mineral feeder, salt block, back scratcher

Out here, fences are just as much about wildlife as they are cattle. We keep our bottom wires 18” off the ground so the antelope can duck under, and the deer usually jump the top, though not always gracefully.  So there is fixing on the bottom and the top there.

We rotate our grazing, so the cows don’t push on the fences much, but we still check the fence lines before and after we move cows. It’s just part of how we care for the land.

The girls helped with those things and then the cows, calves and bulls walked the mile and a half to their new pasture.  The bulls were spread out following the cows they were keeping an eye on, so no fights.  It was a smooth move, even the calves followed their moms to the new grass.

Summer Harvest Update

We're finishing up shipping freezers and delivering or shipping our summer beef shares.

I counted up and we bought 31 freezers for new customers that joined up with our T Bar J Ranch family.  That’s 31 families who now have freezers full of real, ranch-raised beef, pretty incredible, right?

A lot of our return customers didn't need a new freezer, and we are deciding if we will continue that bonus for this fall's harvest.  If you want a beef share with a freezer, get your deposit in before the 18th.

Fall Harvest Begins

We took in the first five steers for our Fall Beef Harvest, and we’ve got four more going in next month.

Mark your calendar, Deposits open August 18th for October and November beef shares.

Get your freezer ready for cooler nights, shorter days, and comfort food season.  When these shares are gone, it will be summer before our next beef shares are available.  Everything on a ranch has a season, just like Mother Nature.

New: Beef Bundles Coming Soon

We’re working on a smaller beef bundle, around 25 to 30 lbs, perfect for families who aren’t quite ready for a quarter share, or want to try our beef before buying big.

It’s still in the works, but I wanted to give you a heads-up so you can be the first to check it out, that will be on August 18th too!

Pig Parade Update

The pig parade is nearly complete, just waiting for the final round of organic curing to finish. In another week or so, we’ll be delivering and shipping all-natural pork shares to happy pork lovers in 8 states.

A Ranch Visit to Remember

This week, one of our close by customers came out with their family and brought five kids to meet the cows and calve, and, of course, bottle-feed Black Jack.

They got to walk through the pasture, say hello to the cows, feed them some cow "cake", or cow pellet treats, see the bulls working, and learn firsthand where their food comes from.

Getting to show folks exactly where and how their beef is raised, it’s one of our favorite things.

Here’s What’s Next

We’re rolling into fall with:

✔️ Summer beef shares and freezers on their way

✔️ Fall beef shares, starting with 5 steers this month, more in September
✔️ Pork shares, almost cured and ready to deliver
✔️ New beef bundles coming soon
✔️ Hay hauling underway so the cows eat well this winter

And all the while, we’re raising good beef the right way, no shortcuts.

From Our Customers

We received some wonderful reviews this week, here are two of our favorites

Excellent tasty, healthy beef!!!
"Amber was very helpful and professional in answering all of our questions. Everything went smoothly from receiving the freezers to receiving the meat. The beef is excellent and very tasty. Never had this good tasting beef. Will definitely reorder from Amber (T Bar J Ranch Beef). Thank you Amber!!!"

              Jacques B.

True meat the way God intended
"This meat is so good! We live down the road from T Bar J and can say with confidence that they raise cows how they were meant to be. Honoring that lifestyle has to be why this meat's is so different than any other I've tried. Even other Montana raised beef doesn't come close. Thanks Al and Amber for what you do!"

             The Smiths

We love hearing from you, whether it’s a review, a call, or just a note to say thanks.

Thank you for being part of the T Bar J family. Whether it's your first time ordering and you have questions, or we’ve been filling your freezer for years, we appreciate you more than you know.

P.S.  Remember we are having a drawing for customers that leave a review, or send along a picture of where their T Bar J Hat is today.  A $25 gift card to use on anything, beef sticks, to beef shares.  Drawing the end of this month.
