An F-16 and American Beef - Power You Can Count On

An F-16 and American Beef - Power You Can Count On

Last Tuesday was Air Force Academy Day, and it got us thinking about fueling up the right way.

Get something warm to drink, a cookie or two, and spend a few minutes at the ranch.  No work gloves required today.

Here’s a picture of our son in his F-16, refueling mid-air from a tanker. Just like that jet needs quality fuel to keep flying, your family needs quality beef to keep going.

Refueled and Ready - Could be your family with American beef!

At T Bar J Ranch, we’re proud to raise American beef the right way—all-natural, free from hormones, no antibiotics, and loaded with flavor you just can’t find at the grocery store.

When you choose our beef, you’re not just getting a meal—you’re refueling your family with quality American-raised beef.

Life on the Ranch

Spring’s trying to show up, but winter isn’t ready to leave just yet. After a sunny 50-degree day on Tuesday, we’re back to snow and winter weather advisories today.  The season of "Sprinter" for sure.

The cows are chasing any green grass that peeks through, even with the alfalfa we give them.

I did a quick count of the hay bales in the hay yard to make sure we’re set through May—looks like we’re in good shape!

We had some great folks helping us out this week:

  • Bert brought out the feed truck with pellets for the steers.  Certified non-hormone treated feed—made just for us in town.  11 tons there.
  • Our feed consultant, Calvin, delivered a ton of our organic, chelated mineral and we discussed our cow's nutrition for this stage of gestation.  He has a nutritionist that helps us fine tune anything the cows may be missing.  They are in good shape we think, and I'll do Body Score pictures the middle of the month.

I was thinking, people would hate it if we had to do Body Score pictures every month to see if any ribs were showing!  Just a thought.

Here is Calvin hard at work, he unloaded the whole pallet of mineral for us.

Next week, we’ll bring the heifers home since they’re due to start calving May 1st. Keeping them close means we’re ready to help if they need it.  There is usually one that can't wait and calves early.

What’s for Dinner?

With the weather doing its best to keep us guessing, we’re sticking to hearty meals this week.

Tonight’s special: Beef Barley Soup with homemade bread. Perfect for warming up after a day in the snow!  Our neighbors, Doug and Julie, shared some of their homemade sourdough bread with us, it was wonderful with this soup.

Beef Barley Soup Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb beef stew meat, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup barley
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef and brown on all sides.
  2. Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the carrots, celery, broth, barley, diced tomatoes, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 1 or 2 hours, until the beef is tender and the barley is cooked.
  5. Serve hot, sprinkle with fresh parsley. Enjoy with warm, crusty bread!

Appreciation

We’re proud to raise American beef and pork, and it’s folks like you who keep our ranch going strong. Thanks for trusting us with your family’s meals—it’s a responsibility we take seriously.

The Pig Parade is still marching on! The ranch-raised pork shares are available in September, and beef shares for July are also open.

But here’s the catch: we’re only taking deposits until May 1st—or until we sell out, whichever comes first. These premium shares are going fast, and once they’re gone, that’s it!

To make it even more exciting, we’ve added a new spinner game on our website where you can win $50 or $75 off a Beef or Pork Share. It’s a fun way to save on your next order—be sure to check it out!

Stay warm, eat well, and thank you for signing on with the T Bar J.  We are glad you're here.

P.S. Just like that F-16, your family deserves the best fuel. Our all-natural beef and pork are raised with care, dedication, and the highest standards—right here in Montana.
